Safety and staff

Flight safety is taken care of in every detail starting from the selection and professional training of the personnel who operate on the systems. In fact, operators are selected every year through rigorous exams and tests and are updated with specific training courses on safety and first aid.

Safety of plants and equipment

Every year and continuously the systems are inspected and maintained with meticulous procedures aimed at guaranteeing the conformity and safety of every part of the systems. As regards steel cables, in addition to the visual examination, magneto-inductive tests are carried out every year to evaluate the quality and condition of the cables. For the harnesses, all the parts are supplied by a specialized company and CE marked, they are available in various sizes, from small to extra large, to adapt to each person based on weight and height. Each harness has a maximum lifespan of 5 years, with mandatory annual reviews.

Harness safety

The Flight of the Angel is carried out with harnesses connected to the steel cable that connects the two departure and arrival stations located in Pietrapertosa and Castelmezzano.
Wearing the harness is simple and safe, just insert your legs into the leg loops, then your arms and head between the padded straps, making sure that the crossover of the straps remains above your back.
Users wear a helmet tightly under their chin to ensure comfort and safety during the descent.
You will be assisted by specialized Volo dell’Angelo staff who will provide you with the most suitable size harness and will help you wear it correctly.

Safety and checks before the Flight of the Angel

Before each launch (flight), the operator carries out a final safety check, checking that the harness and helmet are worn correctly and checking the integrity of the webbing, ropes, tightening means and stitching.
At this point the operators hook the carabiners to the trolleys and, once in the launching position, further tighten the leg straps and position the arms along the back.
Communication between the launch platform and the arrival platform occurs via radio. Only after receiving authorization to descend, the user is released to begin the Flight of the Angel.
